How Grace Baptist Church, Southport (“we”) use your information

Your privacy is important to us.  We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of your information.

Data Controller

Grace Baptist Church is the data controller and responsible for your personal data.

 

Why are we collecting your data?

We collect personal data to provide appropriate pastoral care, to monitor and assess the quality of our services, to fulfil our purposes as a church and to comply with the law. In legal terms this is called ‘legitimate interests’. When it is required, we may also ask you for your consent to process your data. We do not share your information with others except as described in this notice.

• Personal information (such as name, telephone number, address and email address)
• Characteristics (such as gender, ethnicity, language, nationality, country of birth)

Storing your data

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.

We will contact you annually to check that the information we are holding is accurate and that you agree to us holding it.

 

Security of your data

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed.  In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees or trustees who need to know.  They will only process your personal data on our instructions.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and the ICO where we are legally required to do so.

 

Who do we share your information with?

We will not share your information with third parties without your consent unless the law requires us to do so.

 

Requesting access to your personal data

Guest Internet and Wi-Fi Acceptable Use Policy

Grace Baptist Church, Southport (GBCS) permits free use of the church Wi-Fi network during group meetings and activities on the premises. GBCS has a policy for the use of this Wi-Fi access whereby all users must ensure that they:

• Comply with current legislation
• Use the Internet in an acceptable way
• Do not cause the name or reputation of GBCS to fall into disrepute

Monitoring

GBCS accepts that the use of the Internet is a valuable tool. However, misuse of this facility can have a negative impact upon the reputation and work of the church. Therefore, the church reserves the right to monitor the volume of network traffic, together with the Internet websites visited.

Unacceptable Behaviour

• Visiting Internet sites that contain obscene, hateful, pornographic, or illegal material
• Using a computer to perpetrate any form of fraud; or software, film, or music piracy
• Using the Internet to send offensive or harassing material to other users
• Downloading commercial software or any copyrighted materials belonging to third parties, unless this download is covered or permitted under a commercial agreement or other such license
• Publishing defamatory and/or knowingly false material on social networking sites, blogs, online journals, Wikis, or any other online publishing format
• Revealing confidential information in a personal online posting, upload, or transmission
• Undertaking deliberate activities that waste network resources, including remote or direct transmission of spam emails and messages

Sanctions

Where it is believed that a user has failed to comply with this policy, access to the Wi-Fi network will be revoked. If this failure to comply should only come to GBCS’ attention after the user’s departure, GBCS reserve the right to refuse access to the service on their next visit.
